Description
1911-D Indian Quarter Eagle, MS65
Sought-After Series Key
1911-D $2 1/2 MS65 PCGS. Strong D. From a small mintage of
55,680 pieces, the 1911-D Indian quarter eagle is the acknowledged
key to the series. Always in demand, the issue can be found in
lower Mint State grades with little trouble, but the 1911-D is
definitely elusive in MS65 condition, and finer coins are extremely
rare. This delightful Gem exhibits sharp definition on all design
elements, with the lines in the lower headdress feathers distinctly
visible and no blending of the feathers on the eagle's shoulder.
The all-important mintmark is quite bold. The well-preserved
orange-gold surfaces radiate vibrant mint luster to complete the
package. Population: 22 in 65 (1 in 65+), 3 finer (8/16).(Registry values: N10218)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# EGZ7, PCGS# 7943, Greysheet# 8615)
Weight: 4.18 grams
