Description
1813 BD-1 Five Dollar, MS63
First Year Type Coin
1813 $5 BD-1, R.2, MS63 NGC. Bass-Dannreuther Die State b/b.
The Capped Head Left five dollar series contains several rare dates
out of reach for most collectors. However, type collectors will
find that the first-year issue is obtainable, even in Mint State.
Prices begin to climb quickly above the MS63 level, which likely
provides the greatest value for the cost. This Select example
displays lustrous green-gold surfaces and excellent eye appeal.
Marks are relatively few and unimportant, and the strike is sharp
except on the right-side obverse dentils. A desirable
representative of the challenging design.Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 519907, Base PCGS# 8116, Greysheet# 198949)
Weight: 8.75 grams
Metal: 91.67% Gold, 8.33% Copper
