Description
Challenging 1860 Double Eagle, MS61
1860 $20 MS61 PCGS. The certified population data show that the 1860 double eagle is rather plentiful in circulated condition, particularly Extremely Fine and About Uncirculated, but the numbers drop in Mint State. This MS61 example displays soft luster emanating from tan-gold surfaces that exhibit well impressed design features. A scattering of small marks and scuffs help to limit the grade. Population: 21 in 61, 16 finer (6/07).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 269D, PCGS# 8929, Greysheet# 9796)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
