Description

Pedro II gold 4000 Reis 1695-(B) XF Details (Cleaned) NGC, Bahia mint, KM86, LMB-20, Guimaraes-1695-1.1. First type, large crown. An early issue from the first Portuguese mint in Brazil, this one year-type example is one of the handful auctioned in the last two decades. Bearing well-defined motifs and a lovely mulberry patina across muted surfaces, indicating a long ago cleaning, it's the second finest grade in the NGC census, where the few certified are all details grades.
