Description

Pedro II gold 4000 Reis 1699/8-(R) AU53 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM98, LMB-31b, Guimaraes-1699/8-3a. First type. "PORTVGxREX? (inverted ?)" variety. Struck with Bahia dies, the reverse date re-engraved at the Rio mint, this respectable survivor shows deeply-engraved peripheries with minimal highpoint wear. The second finest in the NGC census, it appears to be a scarcer variety of which we couldn't locate a single example auctioned in the last 20 years.
