Description

João V gold 12800 Reis (Dobra) 1727-B AU Details (Spot Removals) NGC, Bahia mint, KM138 (Rare), LMB-85, Guimaraes-1727-2a. First shield. Fleur-de-Lis over diagonal edge. First date of issue. A respectable survivor of the scarcest variety of the date, showcasing boldly rendered devices, very crisp and with an eye-appeal minimally affected by few adjustment marks that are characteristic of this die-variety. Despite the details grade due to a minor attempt of removing coppery spots from the crevices near the legends, this elusive Bahia mint piece has an impressive amount of mint bloom scintillating from the luminous surfaces.
