Description

João V gold 6400 Reis (Peça) 1741/31-B MS63 NGC, Bahia mint, KM151, LMB-141, cf. Guimaraes-1741-1.1 (unlisted overdate). Forth shield. An unlikely survivor of this elusive date, showing mesmerizing surfaces with reflective lustrous fields, somewhat Prooflike, and razor-sharp devices. If the coin grade itself wasn't enough, it's an interesting overdate missed by Guimaraes, where the dies from the extremely rare 1731 issue (2 known) were re-punched to 1741. Only the second piece we have managed to locate of this overdate variety, this amazing survivor is sure to excite Brazilian type collectors.
