Description

1953 5C PR69 Cameo PCGS. A truly rare coin for two reasons: contrast and condition. Although most proof 1953 Jefferson nickels show little contrast, they can be found on occasion with moderate cameo contrast, as on the present example. In terms of condition, precious few Jefferson nickels have survived more than 50 years in the seemingly completely pristine state of this piece. Extensive perusal under a glass reveals only some metal flowlines below N G of the motto, as struck, with no post-strike evidence of any kind. Population: 2 in 69 Cameo, 0 finer (5/16).
Ex: ANA Signature (Heritage, 8/2007), lot 461.
