Description

Victoria gold Proof "Jubilee Model" 1/2 Farthing 1887-Dated PR64 Cameo NGC, KM-X-Unl, Peck-Unl. 3.05gm. Private Issue. A curious emission, clearly of private issue, but of largely unknown origins. Examples of the type in the more appropriate copper format are attainable but this fantastic gold striking is the only of its kind to surface for auction as far as we are aware, sold originally as part of the Sincona British Collection (Part II) in May 2022. Victoria's miniature gothic portrait is reminiscent of the William Wyon design used for the British Hong Kong 10 Cents series during the Queen's reign. An offering that would be an excellent addition to a set dedicated to Victoria's Golden Jubilee or a headline piece for a Model Coinage set, among the many possibilities.
