1799 $10 Large Obverse Stars, BD-10, R.3 -- Edge Repaired -- PCGS Genuine. Unc Details. Bass-Dannreuther Die State a/a. There were just two die marriages for the 1799 Large Obverse Stars, while the Small Obverse Stars has eight die pairings. The BD-10 Large Obverse Stars is the most available of the ten varieties of 1799 eagles. The BD-10 is distinguished from a leaf touching I in AMERICA, while on the BD-9 Large Obverse Stars the leaf does not touch I.

This is a very attractive example of the Large Obverse Stars BD-10. The PCGS holder states "Edge Repaired-UNC Detail." From obverse and reverse views of the coin, the repair is mostly unnoticeable. Sharply struck with all details well formed. There are some marks, shallow scratches from N to wing and in the shield, and some chatter from star 1 to date, but these do not impair the overall appearance. Satiny luster with lovely orange-gold toning.
