Description

Finest Certified 2 Baht

Rama IV 2 Baht (1/2 Tamlung) ND (1863) MS66 NGC, Bangkok mint, KM-Y12, Dav-308. An outstanding example of this collectible type, the largest machine-made silver denomination of Rama IV's reign. Fervid bidding takes place when this type is offered in Choice or Gem condition, but the state of preservation here warrants extra consideration; this Eternal Specimen is tied with the Namkell Rao example at the peak of the NGC census, and none are certified higher at PCGS. Here, a stormy technicolor patina sprawls in a gradient manner, emphasizing the swirling nature of the devices, as does the whirling luster embedded in the flan. No mark of consequence is visible, as indicated by the lofty NGC designation. Conditionally admirable and aesthetically unmatched, one of the highlights of this collection.
