Large O, Closed Buds
1841-O 10C -- Obverse Damage -- NGC Details. VF. Fortin-101.
A long cut bisects the obverse, accounting for the noted damage.
The Large O, Closed Buds is a rare variety made from a leftover
1840-O reverse. Brian Greer estimates a surviving population of 20
pieces in all grades, but population data indicates a range of
50-70 specimens. This example shows even wear on the devices, with
pleasing gray and light blue patina.
