Description

1853-O No Motto Ten, AU58
Sharp New Orleans Eagle

1853-O $10 AU58 NGC. Variety 1. At least six die pairs were required to strike just 51,000 1853-O eagles. This variety shows lapped neck curls, with no "shield ring" seen on the reverse. Branch mint eagles are always in demand, and while the 1853-O is available in circulated grades, it is rare in full Mint State. This is a near-Mint example with semireflective fields and sharply struck motifs. The still-lustrous, brassy-gold surfaces display soft-gray accents at points of slight wear that determine the assigned grade. Census (all varieties combined) : 44 in 58 (2 in 58+), 6 finer (9/19).(Registry values: N1793)
