Republic gold 8 Escudos 1824 POPAYAN-FM MS62 NGC, Popayan mint, KM82.2, Fr-68, Restrepo-M166.5. A delicately balanced example featuring bold reflectivity and honeyed-amber patina permeating the low-lying pondlike fields. Decidedly crisp despite a bit of minor central striking weakness, a characteristic of the series on the whole. Aptly near-Choice Mint State by all accounts, marred only by the visual distractions of light planchet imperfections and notable adjustment marks. Regardless, this example remains head and shoulders above most, bested by a single, impressive MS64 noted by NGC.Metal: Gold
