Saxony. Friedrich August III "Freiberg Mining Academy" Taler 1765 AU58 NGC, KM985, Dav-2686. A very rare "Mining" Taler type showcasing the Freiberg Mining Academy through a beautiful but curious reverse mining scene featuring children involved in various tasks of this specific industry. Sharing a reverse with Davenport-2679 featuring Xaver instead of Friedrich August III, this type offered here is seen considerably less often at market. Idyllic gun-metal patina with mottled iridescent color is a perfect showcase for this excellent offering that is tantalizingly close to Mint State.
