1853/'2' Ten Dollar, AU55
Popular So-Called Overdate
1853/'2' $10 AU55 NGC. FS-301. Regarded as an overdate by
the Guide Book, this variety features a pair of diagonal
lines within the lower loop of the 3 and a third in the field below
it. NGC states, "There is no universal agreement that this is an
overdate, but it remains of interest to collectors." The present
coin displays soft prairie-gold luster and bold central detail,
with only light wear and chatter seen on each side. The peripheral
stars are weakly struck as usual. Census: 58 in 55, 34 finer
