Description

1867-S Liberty Head Eagle, VF25
Low Survival Rate, Green CAC Sticker

1867-S $10 VF25 PCGS. CAC. The San Francisco Mint struck nearly three times as many Liberty Head eagles in 1867 as the Philadelphia Mint, but that is not saying much. Only 9,000 coins were manufactured on the West Coast compared to 3,090 in the East. Keep in mind that these gold coins still circulated in California at the time, while gold was unseen in in circulation along the Atlantic coast. As a result, the 1867-S actually has a much lower survival rate with only 50 to 75 coins extant. This example delivers great eye appeal with orange and red-gold color. Both sides exhibit normal high-point rub and small marks, but neither detracts. Rarely offered with CAC approval.
