Scarce in High Grades

1855 $1 AU58 PCGS. Only 26,000 pieces were struck of the 1855 Seated dollar, and most entered the channels of commerce and stayed there. The few high-grade examples that were set aside invariably show the bright, reflective fields seen on this piece. The centers are more or less untoned and surrounded by pale golden patina at the margins. There is only one abrasion of note, located in the right obverse field. Population: 18 in 58, 21 finer (9/15).(Registry values: N2998)
