Description

1884 Cent, Blazing MS66 Red
Just Three Coins are Numerically Finer

1884 1C MS66 Red PCGS Secure. Huge mintages of Indian Head cents were the norm in the early 1880s. With more than 23 million pieces struck, the 1884 issue was a much smaller mintage than any of the previous three years, and most pieces circulated. Amazingly few Premium Gem coins exist today, and numerically finer examples are very rare. This example displays stunning cherry-red coloration surrounding tan-gold centers and devices. The strike is superb. Marks are minuscule and only a few unobtrusive carbon flecks are visible with a glass. Population: 18 in 66 (3 in 66+) Red, 3 finer (2/18).(Registry values: N2998)
