Description

1866-S Half Dime, MS65
Scarce in Mint Condition

1866-S H10C MS65 NGC. The 1866-S half dime is a scarce issue, especially in mint condition. It is largely overshadowed by its much lower-mintage Philadelphia counterpart. However, S-mint gold and silver extensively circulated in the western states, leaving few examples for collectors who seek a high-grade survivor. The bright mint frost shines through the medium-density golden-rose toning that covers each side. Die clashed on each side. Census: 4 in 65, 5 finer (7/19).
