Description

1889 Gold Dollar, MS67
Increased Mintage Quantity

1889 G$1 MS67 PCGS. After more than a decade of low-mintage gold dollar issues, the 1889 saw an increased production of 28,950 coins and many of those were saved when the denomination was discontinued at the end of that year. The average circulation-strike gold dollar production was just 5,185 coins per year from 1875 through 1887, followed by 15,501 in 1888 and 28,950 in 1889. This impressive Superb Gem displays brilliant and frosty orange-gold luster and virtually full design definition. PCGS has certified 15 numerically-finer submissions (11/23).(Registry values: N2998)
