Description

1879 $1 MS66 Prooflike PCGS. VAM-82. Doubled profile, cap top and 9. The 1879 Morgan is an available issue through the MS65 grade level, but Prooflike pieces are elusive in the finer Mint State grades, and this coin is one of only five Premium Gem Prooflike examples certified at PCGS and NGC, combined, with none numerically finer (8/25). The frosty devices are struck to full definition, delivering pleasing contrast with the mirrored fields. Virtually untoned and beautifully preserved, while a single small tick near Liberty's ear seems to be all that precludes a higher grade from PCGS.
