Description

British India. Victoria gold 10 Rupees 1870-(c) MS61 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM479, S&W-4.15, Prid-28. Reeded edge. Mature Bust. Mintage: 7,932. A highly desirable original business strike, this rare gold issue boasts touches of underlying brilliance and an attractive light saffron hue. The obverse displays mild chatter in the open fields and a scrape behind the Queen's bust, while fine die polish lines on the reverse add welcome vibrancy. Seldom seen in any meaningful preservation, especially Mint State examples without major conditional issues, this lovely piece is a noteworthy opportunity for advanced Indian type collectors.
