Description
1892-CC VAM-8 Morgan, MS65+
Better Date Branch Mint Issue
1892-CC $1 MS65+ PCGS. VAM-8. The date is set far right on
VAM-8, and the 8 and 9 have die chips in the lower loops. Over 1.35
million pieces were struck in Carson City in 1892, and even though
just one 1892-CC appeared in the GSA hoard, the issue has survived
with plentiful numbers through MS64. However, Gem examples become
challenging and pieces any finer are conditionally scarce. Richly
lustrous devices on mostly brilliant surfaces are bordered with
light touches of lavender on the edges, with the reverse including
deeper hues of cobalt-blue. The reverse only shows a couple of
small marks under the eagle's beak, otherwise the surfaces are
pristine. The overall eye appeal is exceptional and easily
justifies the Plus-grade from PCGS, which reports only 51
numerically finer pieces (8/25).(Registry values: P7, N2998)From The Ramundo Collection of Morgan and Peace Dollars.
