Description
1890 Twenty Dollar, MS64
Notable Condition Rarity
1890 $20 MS64 PCGS. The San Francisco Mint did the heavy
lifting for 1890 double eagle production, striking more than
800,000 1890-S twenties. The Philadelphia Mint produced only 75,940
pieces, making the 1890 P-mint issue far scarcer and rare at the
MS64 or finer grades. This near-Gem example is frosty and offers
vibrant cartwheel luster across the orange-gold surfaces. The
strike is sharp and marks are suitably few in number and of minor
severity for the assigned grade. As often seen, the 1 in the date
is repunched. PCGS has certified only one example any finer.
Population: 8 in 64, 1 finer (6/25).(Registry values: N1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BX, PCGS# 9013, Greysheet# 9825)
