Description
1894 Double Eagle, MS65
Conditional Rarity
1894 $20 MS65 PCGS. From a substantial mintage of more than
1.3 million pieces, this Gem 1894 Liberty Head double eagle emerges
as a conditional rarity for the type and the date -- but it is also
a mighty attractive coin in its own right. Deep, thorough mint
bloom radiates from each side, the surfaces a mellow reddish-orange
and every bit as unperturbed as the grade suggests. The
surprisingly bold strike has produced full star centrils around the
obverse periphery, and good articulation of Liberty's hair details.
On the reverse, all of the fine detailing in the glory of rays, the
eagle's feathers, and the shield stripes are equally well brought
up. A great type coin. Population: 10 in 65 (1 in 65+), 0 finer
(7/25).Ex: Summer FUN Signature (Heritage, 7/2013), lot 3429.(Registry values: N4719)
