Description

1814/3 Half Dollar, AU55
O-101a, Important
Guide Book Overdate

1814/3 50C O-101a, R.2, AU55 PCGS. Ex: Frederick Collection. Light champagne-gold toning visits the margins, yet both sides display mostly brilliant-silver surfaces with nearly full mint luster. The centers are a trifle weak as normally seen, while this Choice coin displays prominent die cracks and multiple heavy clash marks that are typical of the late die state. Here is a great coin for the advanced specialist, or for the Guide Book collector needing the sole overdate variety for the 1814 halves. Population: 34 in 55, 25 finer (5/16).
Ex: New England (7/1978), lot 854; Central States Signature (4/2010), lot 2960.
From The Eagle One Collection, Part II.
