Description

1874 Trade Dollar, MS65+
Frosty Original Luster
Rarely Seen This Fine

1874 T$1 MS65+ PCGS. CAC. With period after FINE. The 1874 Trade dollar boasts a commanding mintage of nearly 1 million coins, although it is scarce in Mint State and a major rarity above MS64. This is the only Plus-graded coin among a tiny population of Gems at PCGS, and finer pieces are prohibitively rare. In fact, this coin is the sole fourth finest certified between PCGS and NGC combined (10/25). The CAC endorsement confirms the outstanding quality. Incredibly frosty, untoned luster glows on each side, revealing no more than a few trivial marks that are not out of line for the grade. The eagle's right leg and talons show strike weakness, but the obverse is well-defined. An exceptional type coin for the collector seeking strong quality and original mint luster. PCGS Population: 6 in 65 (1 in 65+), 2 finer. CAC: 3 in 65, 1 finer (10/25).
