1817 O-106a Half Dollar, AU53
The 'Comet' Obverse, Single-Leaf Reverse
1817 50C Single Leaf Below Wing, O-106a, R.4, AU53 PCGS. The
Single Leaf variety. The reverse die was lapped, attenuating the
upper leaf pair to create this Guide Book variety. The
obverse is noteworthy for a bold "comet" die line behind the cap.
Also, a die crack crosses the tip of the left (right facing) wing
through UNITED to the top of the D. Medium grayish surfaces are
remarkably clean and exhibit well-struck design elements.Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2014), lot 4408.
