Description
1822/1 O-101 Bust Half, MS61
Nice Cartwheel Luster
1822/1 50C O-101, R.1, MS61 PCGS. The I in PLURIBUS is
positioned far left on the O-101 variety -- beneath the right serif
of A in STATES -- a valuable pick-up point to confirm the variety.
The overdate itself is not clear and has been questioned by some
researchers, although the final 2 in the date is much heavier than
the first 2 and the sliver of an artifact at the lower right curl
of the 2 is visible with a glass. Scarce in Mint State grades, this
example displays full cartwheel luster on both sides beneath light
golden-gray patina. The devices are sharply struck throughout.
Population (both overdate varieties): 2 in 61, 25 finer (5/16).From The Eagle One Collection, Part II.
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24FH, Variety PCGS# 39604, Base PCGS# 6130, Greysheet# 193875)
Weight: 13.48 grams
Metal: 89.24% Silver, 10.76% Copper
