Description

Colorful PR65 1858 Flying Eagle Cent Pattern, Judd-191

1858 P1C Flying Eagle Cent, Judd-191, Pollock-233, R.5, PR65 NGC. Snow-PT14. This transitional pattern combines the regular dies of the Small Letters obverse of 1858 with 1859's Laurel Wreath reverse. The leaves on the reverse are arranged in clusters of five. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge. The obverse has blushes of purple, red, and jade-green over lustrous surfaces; while the reverse, struck from a slightly rotated die, offers a more traditional copper-tan color palette. Census: 7 in 65, 2 finer (12/07).
