Description

1936 Brilliant Finish Nickel, PR67+
Fantastic Eye Appeal

1936 5C Type Two -- Brilliant Finish PR67+ PCGS. CAC. In 1936, the Mint struck proof nickels for the first time since 1916. Those made early in the production run have satiny surfaces, and were received poorly by collectors. The Mint then produced coins with a fully brilliant finish. These were far more popular and their survival rate is significantly greater than for the satin proofs. A thin layer of soft ice-blue, orange-gold, lavender, and violet patination resides on the highly luminous surfaces of this high-end Superb Gem, and razor-sharp definition characterizes the design elements. Close inspection reveals no mentionable contact marks or spots. This piece sports fantastic overall eye appeal and is well deserving of the CAC label. Population: 10 in 67+, 6 finer (10/13).(Registry values: N2998)
