Description

1865 50C WB-101 MS63 NGC. The mintage of 511,400 pieces did little to ease the hoarding of silver that marked the Civil War years, and today few Uncirculated examples of the 1865 halves exist. PCGS and NGC combined report fewer than 100 grading events at all Mint State levels combined. This Select Uncirculated survivor displays pale-gold toning with reddish highlights. The strike is sharp on both sides from dies that show raised polish lines throughout the fields and recesses. Census: 9 in 63, 20 finer (5/16).
