Splendid Gem 1926-S Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle
1926-S $20 MS65 PCGS. One of the more attractive 1926-S Saints to ever come our way, this distinctive Gem representative is liberally highlighted in flashes of bright orange patina. Both the strike and luster are equally impressive on this extensively melted issue and mentionable abrasions are limited to a series of marks just below Liberty's waist. A few other luster grazes are noted near the center of the eagle's forewing. All in all, the technical merits of this piece secure its importance to the quality conscious collector of the demanding Saint-Gaudens series and its beauty is almost unsurpassable. Population: 17 in 65, 1 finer (11/05).(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26GF, PCGS# 9185, Greysheet# 10183)
