Description

1848 10C MS66 NGC. The only certified Premium Gem 1848 Seated dime (8/10). This beauty has brilliant and satiny silver luster with faint gold toning on each side. The design motifs are quite sharply struck and the surfaces are pristine. It is probably the finest existing 1848 Seated dime.
The dies are characteristic of Fortin-101 as described at seateddimevarieties.com, but the die state is intermediate between Fortin-101 and 101a. The obverse has the die lines at stars 11 and 12 as on 101, while the reverse has advanced die cracks similar to 101a. Census: 1 in 66, 0 finer (8/10).
