Description

1914 Double Eagle, MS65
Scarce in Gem Preservation

1914 $20 MS65 PCGS. Vibrant frosty mint luster radiates from both sides, presiding over vivid orange-gold surfaces that show only minimal signs of contact. This lovely Saint also contains sharply detailed design elements, adding to the terrific eye appeal.

The 1914 Saint-Gaudens double eagle is scarce, with the lowest mintage of all Philadelphia issues at just 95,250 pieces. Fortunately, the strike and luster improved significantly from the 1913 issues, making for a more desirable issue overall. Unfortunately, its scarcity in Gem grades and near unavailability any finer remains, as a large number of survivors originated from a European hoard and most picked up significant bagmarks on their journey. Population: 54 in 65 (7 in 65+), 7 finer (8/25).
