Description

Impressive 1872-S Seated Dime, MS65

1872-S 10C MS65 PCGS Secure. CAC. The 190,000 coin mintage of 1872-S dimes suggests a scarce date, but does little to tell of its condition rarity in Mint State. In particular, Gem examples are rare, and this piece is one of just two that PCGS has certified MS65 with none finer (8/10). The strike is excellent, although Liberty's head is a trifle weak and the ribbon bow lacks definition. The surfaces are frosty and lustrous with gorgeous yet delicate gold, russet, teal, and iridescent toning on each side.
