Description

1799 $1 7x6 Stars, B-22, BB-168, R.4, Fine 12 ANACS. Bowers Die State III. The reverse die is broken rim-to-rim from the edge to the right of E in UNITED, across the eagle's body and wings, to the edge at the left of M in AMERICA. Several blobs of metal appear at the margins where cracked, the upper reverse sinking. A faint network of die cracks forms on the obverse around the stars. Golden-brown and blue toning is deepest at the borders on both sides. A scarce variety, unknown in Mint State and especially appealing in this late die state. A few light marks are noted with a J-shaped pinscratch in the hair. Housed in an ANA cache holder.
