1851 Half Dollar, Semiprooflike AU58
Low-Mintage Key

1851 50C WB-101, Die Pair 6, R.4, AU58 PCGS. Normal Date. Die lines occur between the rim and ITED on the reverse. The 1851 is a key date in the series with a low mintage of 200,750 coins. Many examples were melted. Coins that survive are apt to be in AU condition and well-struck, just like the representative offered here. Brilliant surfaces are blatantly semiprooflike. Little obvious friction is present. There is minor chatter in the field, and a circular planchet flaw below (UNITE)D. Population (all varieties): 10 in 58, 31 finer (11/17).
