Description

1881-CC Coronet Eagle, AU58
Scarce Any Finer

1881-CC $10 AU58 PCGS. Variety 1-A. Ex: Rian's Bequest. Writing in The Confident Carson City Coin Collector, Rusty Goe confirms that collectors will have little trouble finding a circulated example of the 1881-CC eagle (24,015 coins struck). However, anything finer than this AU58 representative proves conditionally scarce and challenging thus. Orange-gold surfaces with pale lavender accents exhibit small abrasions, including a few in the right obverse field. Well-struck from cracked dies. Population: 37 in 58, 30 finer (11/21).
From The Rian's Bequest Collection. (Registry values: N1793)
