Prized PR65 Cameo 1854 Arrows Dime

1854 10C Arrows PR65 Cameo PCGS Secure. CAC. Strongly struck obverse devices are heavily frosted: the figure of Liberty, the stars, the enormous date (a signature of the proof issue) and the arrows flanking it. Bright silver fields have peach and blue elements at the margins. Like all pre-1858 proof minor silver issues, the 1854 dime had only a small initial mintage, and few coins survive today; most sources list a dozen or fewer examples known. With the impressive contrast and preservation of the present piece, it merges important historical value with remarkable aesthetics, a wonderful combination. Population: 3 in 65 Cameo, 0 finer (8/10).
