Description

1939 Reverse of 1940 Nickel, PR67
Straight Steps, FS-901

1939 5C Reverse of 1940, FS-901, PR67 PCGS. CAC. The Straight Steps subtype was introduced in 1939, and appears on many business strikes of that date. But most 1939 proofs are the Wavy Steps subtype, carried over from 1938. 1939 Straight Steps proofs are very scarce and in demand. The present intricately struck and pristine Superb Gem displays lovely pastel wheat-gold, lilac-rose, and olive-green patina. CAC: 17 in 67, 1 finer (3/17).
