Description

1918/7-D Nickel, Choice VF
Pewter-Gray Patina

1918/7-D 5C FS-101 VF35 PCGS. The year 1918 produced a bumper crop of varieties in America's minor coinage. San Francisco issued an overdated quarter for this year, and Denver did likewise with the nickel. Subdued lavender-gold patina covers much of this moderately worn example of the latter. The strike is soft and uneven; the bison's outer tail, as well as LIBERTY and the horn, show significant weakness. Light marks are present on the devices, although the coin has a pleasing appearance and would make a great addition to a date set with varieties.
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2006), lot 1019; Dallas Signature (Heritage, 11/2006), lot 373.
