Description

1942 Copper-Nickel Jefferson, MS67
Registry-Grade Full Steps Example

1942 5C Type One MS67 Full Steps PCGS. 30th Anniversary Green Label Holder. The year 1942 was transitional for the Jefferson nickel, as the Mint stopped striking the denomination in the traditional copper-nickel alloy and began producing planchets with silver in them to conserve copper and nickel for the war effort. In Superb Gem Full Steps, the earlier copper-nickel 1942 issue is far scarcer than its silver war alloy counterpart. This boldly struck example ranks among the finest certified at PCGS and is a full grade point finer than the best Full Steps example at NGC (6/16). The strike is bold, and the unabraded surfaces yield iridescent luster. Eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 6 in 67 Full Steps, 0 finer (5/16).(Registry values: P1)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 22TK, PCGS# 84013, Greysheet# 3175)
