Description

1798 Heraldic Eagle Dollar, XF40
Scarce B-21, BB-107
Pointed 9, 10 Arrows

1798 $1 Large Eagle, Pointed 9, 10 Arrows, B-21, BB-107, R.5, XF40 ANACS. Bowers Die State II, as usual with a "tadpole" break above the 79 in the date. BB-107 has proven to be a very scarce to rare variety. Only a single example has been certified Mint State as BB-107, the former Jules Reiver specimen. Only a handful of AU pieces are known. This better-grade representative is housed in a vintage ANACS holder. A few adjustment marks (as coined) are on the central reverse, but post-strike abrasions are inconsequential. The surfaces are generally silver-gray with deep russet toning in design crevices. The reverse appears off-center several degrees toward 4:30, due to a misaligned die.
