Description

1887 Half Dollar, PR66
Multicolor Toning, Low Mintage

1887 50C PR66 NGC. A scant 710 proof half dollars were struck at Philadelphia during 1887. The business emission was also low, only 5,000 pieces. Thus the 1887 is scarce, particularly in present exemplary quality. Gold, violet-red, and blue toning competes for territory across both sides. A few of the upper stars lack a full impression, but the surfaces are essentially pristine. Census: 14 in 66, 5 finer (11/22).
