Eye-Appealing, Low-Mintage Survivor

1871 $3 AU55 PCGS. Rich, yellow-gold surfaces are highlighted with fiery, crimson-red around the legend and date. Weakness is limited to the high points of the hair and wreath. A scant 1,300 threes were minted in 1871, the second lowest mintage to date after 1865 and just over one-third the figure of the previous year, adding to the desirability of this eye-appealing survivor.(Registry values: N1793)
