Description

Pleasing 1916 Quarter
MS64 Full Head

1916 25C MS64 Full Head PCGS. CAC. Walter Breen writes of the new 1916 Standing Liberty quarter in his 1988 Encyclopedia: "... the Philadelphia Mint coined some 52,000 quarters of the new design, Dec. 16-31, 1916, telling the general public nothing of the act; these were released , with the first 1917's, on Jan. 17, 1917."
The silver-white surfaces of this near-Gem specimen yield pleasing luster, and are visited by occasional whispers of powder-blue. An attentive strike results not only in fullness on Liberty's head, but also in crispness on the shield, Liberty's gown lines and toes, and the eagle's plumage. A couple of minor marks barely precludes full Gem classification.
