Description

1895-S Morgan Dollar, MS65
High-End Better Date

1895-S $1 MS65 PCGS. Morgan dollar production was down at all active U.S. Mints in the mid-1890s, due to the financial consequences of the Panic of 1893 and the repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act. Accordingly, only 400,000 examples were struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1895, making the issue a better date in all grades. The 1895-S is rare at the MS65 grade level and finer coins are prime condition rarities.

This delightful Gem exhibits sharply detailed design elements in most areas, with just a trace of the usual softness on the hair strands above Liberty's ear. The well-preserved surfaces radiate vibrant mint luster and show highlights of sea-green and lilac toning. Eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 43 in 65 (6 in 65+), 4 finer (3/19).(Registry values: P8, N4719)
