1797 10x6 Stars Dollar, VF20
B-3, BB-71, Large Letters
1797 $1 10x6 Stars, Large Letters, B-3, BB-71, R.2, VF20
PCGS. Bowers Die State III. The right-side palm leaves have
lapped edges, as usual. As the only silver dollar die variety with
the obverse stars arranged in a 10x6 pattern, the BB-71 variety is
easily recognizable. This attractive VF20 specimen exhibits evenly
worn devices and a few light adjustment marks on the obverse stars
at 10 o'clock. Smooth surfaces display pleasing dove-gray and
blue-steel patina. A small reverse rim bruise is evident at 3
o'clock.Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 6/2011), lot 3831, where it realized $5,175.00.
